So long... for now

Hello! Sorry it has been so long since we had a chance to update our blog! We have been busy preparing for the move and looking at houses online. We are trying to decide between renting or buying at Ft. Bragg.

This week was a big one! Tuesday night was the graduation ball and Wednesday was Kyle's graduation. We had a great time at the ball. We were really nervous about leaving Elizabeth for so long. The evening was not without it's problems for her, but all in all it turned out alright. It was great to get out, just the two of us. We had a couple drinks and took pictures before the receiving line started. There was a very yummy dinner, a good speaker, class video, awards, etc. In fact, the spouses received their PHT award... "Pushing Honey Through". :) We all got our wings that night... not quite fair that the spouses got them before the pilots, but what can you do. :)

Then Wednesday was Kyle's graduation. His mom and her friend Hazel were able to come down for it, so that was nice. I was very proud of him and I know he is happy to finally have his wings! It has been a long road, but quite worth it. After the graduation ceremony there was a static display, so we were able to take pictures with an Apache. We are both really excited to move on to Ft. Bragg and start life in a unit that is more like the rest of the Army. (In other words, not a training unit.) Kyle is excited that hopefully he will have a chance to fly again by the end of July.

Yesterday we spent time organizing and getting ready for the packers. They are here today. They will pack everything that can go in a box. Then on Monday the loading crew will dismantle any furniture that needs to come apart and load it all up on a truck! We will be pulling out on Tuesday when Kyle is done clearing post.

It should be an exciting week! We are praying that Elizabeth does well on the long trip. We plan on breaking it up into 2 days to make it a little easier for her.

Elizabeth recently started eating "wagon wheels". They are wheel shaped treats made of puffed grain, and these ones are apple flavored. They get mushy and dissolve very quickly. She ate half of this one, then decided to stuff the rest in her mouth. She thought it was hilarious.


We had a summer package swap with my aviation wives forum, and my partner, whose husband happens to be stationed in Hawaii, was sweet enough to send this adorable little dress for Elizabeth.

Finally we found out!

Well as a lot of you know, we have been waiting for the Army to let us know where we would be heading after flight school. This morning we found out. My two ladies and I are going to Fort Bragg, NC to work for the 82nd Airborne Division. I am extremely happy with where they put us. Mel and I had talked about Bragg for a while so we were pretty happy to hear we were heading there.

We should get our full orders soon so I can tell you guys a little more about what my unit will be. I will be graduating on June 25th and hopefully heading out soon after that. We might try to make a detour along our little journey to visit some friends but we can't wait for the new adventure. Mel has already gone through about 500 webpages to figure out where we can live. Soon we will know.

Well, I guess I didn't have as many to share as I thought. I suppose I need to get working on that! But, I just had to share this one of David and Elizabeth's meeting at the airport. Her shirt has his picture on it and it says. "Get out of my way!!! My Uncle just got back from Iraq and I can't wait to meet him!"

Here is Elizabeth last Sunday Morning... all ready to go pick Daddy up! The sparkles on her shirt say "Daddy's Little Girl". Even though she had a lot of bonding with mommy for 3 weeks, she was thrilled to see daddy! (As soon as she woke up enough from her nap to know what was going on.)

A long-awaited update

WHEW! May sure flew by quickly! On the 4th we sent Kyle off to SERE school. While he was gone Elizabeth and I went to Kansas to visit family AND introduce her to David! We had a great time and were incredibly grateful to be able to spend time out in Kansas with the gang. It was also a good way to make the time pass a little quicker! :)

For those of you that don't know, SERE is Survival, Evasion, Resistance, and Escape. It is a really tough school, and we are very proud of Kyle for finishing! It might be hard on the family being alone and having no communication whatsoever with their soldier, but that doesn't compare in the least bit to what these guys (and ladies!) go through. Some of the stories might make my skin crawl, but I am thankful Kyle had this training. It could save his life someday.

With the end of SERE, we fully expected to know what our next duty station would be. Well, you know how the Army is... hurry up and wait! :) Now we should know by the end of this week. With graduation just 3 weeks away, we are really cutting it close for planning. If we get Germany, we assume Kyle might have to go ahead of us. If we get stateside, we should be able to plan in time. Keep us in your prayers as we wait, wait, wait, and then have to scramble to get everything accomplished quickly.

Elizabeth is still growing quickly. We had to upgrade her to a convertible car seat this week. She will use this one for quite awhile. It even turns into a booster seat when she is 4. She loves to clap now.

Well, I need to go as she needs some attention. I will try to add pictures later.
